Crown Scholar - April 2025 (Kiara Dodson)

April 2025 (1).png

Kiara is a student at Fountain-Fort Carson High School with a strong passion for law enforcement. Her dream career involves earning a law and justice degree, attending the police academy, and eventually becoming a police officer. After three years of service, she plans to return for further training and work with a police K9, knowing that both she and the K9 will need rigorous preparation before they can begin their work together.

Her favorite school subject is math, understanding how crucial it is in law enforcement. Kiara is also an artist, particularly enjoying drawing and painting animals in a fantasy style. She’s been deeply involved in the Explorers program for over a year, aiming to become a Sergeant and gaining recognition through the LEPAAC State Competition. Kiara is also part of the AVID program, which led her to discover the AAYLC program, helping her further develop her career aspirations.

Outside of academics, Kiara is passionate about volunteering in her community. She participates in various activities such as trunk-or-treat, cleaning schools, and supporting autism awareness events. Kiara takes great joy in being an older sibling, watching her younger siblings grow and succeed—her little sister is in the Junior Honors Society, her other sister is in student council, and her brother is a caring and loving individual. She values her family deeply and prioritizes their well-being and achievements.

Kiara is inspired by Officer Detective Batey from the Colorado Springs Police Department, who made a significant impact on her during a challenging time. She believes in the importance of achieving her goals and never allowing obstacles to hold her back. Kiara is also grateful for the mentorship of Commander Mallett, who has shown her the importance of community service and family. With a strong focus on her goals and a commitment to making a difference, Kiara is well on her way to becoming a police officer and contributing positively to her community.
